*Anne of Green Gables*

I was introduced to the world of Anne Shirley, when I was in about the fifth grade through the movies not the book. I do have all the books, but in this instance the movies drew me in more than the books. I love the language, and the exchanges between Anne and everyone she comes into contact with. In many ways I always identified with Anne, clumsy and always finding trouble. It wasn't that she tried to get into trouble, it just seemed to find her. I must confess that I should watch these movies alone, because I have a tendency to say the lines along with the characters, I have seen them that many times. In fact it was through watching these movies that I memorized Tennyson's Lady of Shalot. I haven't watched these movies in a while, but talking about them now gives me the urge to lose myself in Avonlea, if only for the 9 hour duration of the movies. Anyone who doesn't mind me randomly spouting off lines with Anne is welcome to join.
*Peacock Feathers*

God was showing off when he made the peacock. Although I know from personal experience that these are perhaps the dumbest birds on this earth, there is no denying they are truly beautiful creatures. I love all the colors displayed, but specifically the bright green color. When I was still living at home with my parents, the lady down the road actually had a peacock, my sister and I named him Phillip. Don't ask me why, but that's just what we called him. We chased him and chased him all in an effort to get him to spread out his feathers, it never worked but it was quite entertaining. They haven't seen Phillip lately, perhaps he didn't enjoy our little afternoon runs.
*Kermit the Frog*

Who can deny that there is something interesting about a talking frog in love with a melodramatic pig. This would combine two of the things I love. Frogs and pigs. I don't know why, but I have always liked both of these animals. Maybe the frog affection has something to do with Kermit. I have always found him to be quite entertaining and I particularly liked him in the cartoon Muppet Babies. I am well aware that my affection for pigs comes from watching Charlotte's Web too many times as a child. (Thus my imaginary pig Wilbur who lived in our compost pile.) But this blog is about all things green and of course pigs are not green. The last green thing that I will talk about is my love for...
*Trees*

I love trees, namely the dogwood tree. I have heard the story about the buds of the dogwood tree representing the cross and if it is true how amazing, but even if it isn't the flowers are still a great reminder of God's love for us. If we lay aside the four petals and the red on the tips of the petals, the shear beauty of this tree should be a reminder of God's love for us. The dogwood has always been my favorite tree. We had one in our backyard growing up and it had a branch that sat just low enough that I could climb it easily. I remember thinking that if I could climb all the way to the top I would lay in the branches, then see and talk directly to God. Of course I never got much higher than that first branch, but it was a a nice thought. Thinking about it now, I CAN talk to God directly and I CAN see Him; if only through His creation and works; and how amazing is that!
I suppose that is enough for today. If you took the time to read my ramblings about all things green, I appreciate it. Maybe you gained a little more insight about who I am, even if that wasn't what you wanted. Hope everyone is having a great day, try not to get pinched too many times.
You make me smile and I love learning all these random things about you!
