I don’t do drugs…I do crafts

So as I told you in my last blog I have been in all out craft mode. Here are a few things I did this week…

In case you are wondering it is a citronella candle, a must have for a summer night. I also made these little dandies

I also have started working on a chalkboard out of a mirror I got at the flea market. Once I have finished I plan on doing my first tutorial so you too can make one. At this very moment I am cutting some vinyl for a lemonade pitcher. I think it is going to be lovely and I will most definitely be showing it off as soon as it is done.

I mentioned on Monday that I am considering doing a giveaway…it is coming peeps and it is going to require that you follow me. Sooo…if you don’t already go ahead, do yourself a favor and follow me already! ;) This first one is going to be a great one. Depending on the response I get I may make it a monthly thing. So stay tuned….exciting things to come.

Craftapalooza

Ok so I realize I haven't been as faithful in my blogging as I sometimes am, but I have been in all out craft mode. I go through stages where all I want to do is write or read, then I get in an all out domestic mode and go all crazy in the kitchen, currently all I want to do is craft. I think this sudden onset has been brought on by the freedom of a break from school, but no matter what brought on this feeling my house looks like Hobby Lobby threw up in it. There are rolls of yarn here, a glue gun there, a Cricut cutting machine IN MY LIVING ROOM!!! (who am I?) I am so thankful that my sweet husband is so laid back otherwise my current frenzy might push him over the edge.
So what have I been doing you might ask. A little bit of everything. I am still trying to finish crocheting that blanket I told you about. It is a little over half-way done and turning out quite nicely if I do say so myself. I have been doing some things with my cricut and vinyl. I also have been working on another wreath. If you want to see some of my work you can find it here:

I realize I don't have that much on there right now, but I am slowly but surely adding things. I am thinking about doing a blog giveaway...thoughts on this?

Yo Mamma

116

Today is Mother’s Day, and in the area of mothers and women that we celebrate on this day I have been abundantly blessed. First and foremost the woman who gave me life. My mom is an amazing woman, always helping others and never meeting a stranger. My mom is the kind of person who will go out of her way to talk to people, because everyone deserves a friend. Whether it be a family member, person on her mail route or just a random person she meets in the bathroom; my mom can always strike up an conversation and make anyone feel valued and of worth.

I can’t think about mothers without thinking of my grandmother. Although she isn’t with us anymore my grandmother along with my mother influenced who I am today. She was an exceptional woman who loved God, her family and music. She spent over 50 years of her life teaching children to read. I considered her one of my best friends, full of wisdom and love for her “little darling.” Now that I am married I think I miss her more than ever and I have so many things that I wish I could ask her or talk about with her, but I know where she is and I wouldn’t want her to leave there for anything.

Lastly I have been blessed immensely to have an amazing mother in law. Some people dread visiting or getting visits from their mother in law, but I look forward to and enjoy both of these things. Drew’s mom has taken me in like I am her own daughter, and we have so much in common that the transition into the family has been so easy for me. I never felt uncomfortable or unwanted, and that was due in large part to her.

I feel overwhelmingly blessed to have an amazing mother and mother in law and to have had a precious grandmother. God blessed me so much and on this day and everyday I can’t help but feel increasingly thankful for these women in my life.

Those Bloody Brits

Ok so originally I was going to boycott the royal wedding, because quite frankly watching it would have no impact on my life whatsoever and there are alot more important things going on in the world. I did however cave and these are a few reasons why...

1. I have always had a fascination with the royals possibly because before I was born I was going to be named after these two lovelies...(I obviously wasn't though)

2. I used to have pictures of this boy on my wall...before he went bald. (So I still have a soft spot for him.)

3. I love a hat. I mean why haven't Americans embraced this? Wouldn't it be fun if on a bad hair day you could throw on a large hat and say "don't look at me, look at the hat!" I mean the stuff they wear makes me want to burn every baseball hat I own. These are some of my favorites...

4. Lastly I love a British accent. I could listen to them talk all day long. The first Americans came from Britain, it is a shame that the mystical accent didn't stick. Here's a sampling of the eloquence from one of my new favs...The King's Speech.

I don't feel like watching the wedding is the most profitable use of my time, but it is on the DVR and I love the Brits so I guess I will watch and have a bloody good time doing it.

My Newest Venture

This past week/weekend Drew was working out of town. For the first few days my BFF Jenna stayed with me and then for the latter part of the week/weekend I stayed with my parents mainly because I had like a 3 day migraine and I love it when my mommy takes care of me. All that being said my mom is teaching me to crochet. I am currently working on a blanket which will definitely deserve a post in and of itself. This junk is tedious, but rewarding as well. I keep thinking of all the gifts I can make. Also this is what people did back in the day so I feel like it is also a way to channel my inner 1940's housewife. Hey Mrs. Cleaver, Hey!!! So now that you know what I am doing in my life here are a few things that I want to try to do with my new-found skill:

Precious hats like these...

A purse like this...

I love a pair of slippers...

Thanks for the ideas Etsy!
